Fixture Plate may be classified into a number of categories. However, they are usually identified by the type within each classification and the manufacturing process.

  • Angled-based or Tombstone fixtures

These usually have a reference surface that is normal to the mounting surface. These fixtures are preferably used with horizontal spindle-workstations and are capable of accommodating both rational and prismatic parts.

  • Vise jaw Fixtures

These consist of one stationary jaw for part locating and a movable jaw for part clamping. These are mostly used with vertical spindle-workstations but at times, can also be used with horizontal spindle workstations, by mounting the vise on a tombstone fixture. The Vise Jaw Fixtures too, are capable of accommodating both rational and prismatic parts.
